These soft, wool/silk leggings for toddlers and children can be worn as an underwear base layer during the winter months or on their own during the warmer months. These make great pajama bottoms for any time of year as well. Engel's blend of super soft Merino virgin wool and mulberry silk provides warmth and comfort, and it remains soft after washing.

Made by Engel, these leggings are a high quality blend of 70% organic Merino virgin wool and 30% mulberry silk, certified organic by the International Association Natural Textile Industry (IVN) and the Global Organic Textile Standard. The Merino sheep are organically raised without the use of pesticides on neither pastures nor animals.

I didn't expect that these are thinner than Engel's 100% wool ones. They are somewhat sheer, and I'm not sure how long they will last. Also, the elastic is very thin--maybe 1/4"--and just floats in the waistband. I suppose this will make it easier to repair should I ever need to replace the elastic--though the edge is serged, at least the elastic isn't attached throughout. I wish they'd used a more substantial elastic as they do (did?) in the 100% wool leggings. I cannot recommend them as highly as I do the all-wool ones.

My son loves these! They are silky soft and get lovely and stretchy without sagging. The walnut stripes are beautiful too. They are very thin, to the point they're almost see through. They're fine for him to wear indoors but I doubt they'd hold up outdoors on their own. Very definitely a layering item and as such they keep him very warm outdoors under looser cotton pants or his snow/rain gear.
