POLOLO's wool models keep you wonderfully warm. All models are hand-made with love from 100 percent Tyrolean Wollwalk. The material consists of the finest merino wool, which is felted using clear mountain water from the Tyrolean Alps. This sheep wool isbreathable, robust, heat-insulating and water-repellent - and therefore ideal for our roving children! The sheep are held in huge pastures according to the strict guidelines of the IWTO, where they are dispensed with the controversial mulesing.
Children's feet are not like small adult feet- instead, they consist primarily of cartilage and are therefore much softer and more flexible. Even the smallest amount of pressure, which can be triggered by ill-fitting or too hard shoes, or too little room for movement, can affect the development of a child's feet. Pololo shoes provide little feet with just the freedom of movement they need for healthy development.
The European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation (ECARF) has labelled all Pololo shoes as hypoallergenic. In addition, Pololo regularly commissions tests on their shoes by independent laboratories meeting the highest standards (IVN Natural Leather, REACH and recommendations by the BfR) for possible harmful substances. Leather dyestuffs are free of AOX and heavy metals and comply with EU regulations.
Materials: 100% natural leather (vegetable tanned, soft, and chrome free); Natural leather insole (inner) with wool felt sole; Rubber outer sole
About Pololo:
Pololo shoes are based on four principles: excellent handicraft, charming design, production in Germany, and social & ecological accountability. Each model is a distinct piece of craftsmanship. Leather, one of the world’s oldest textile materials, is tanned animal skin – a natural product! It gives us breathable, steam-permeable and skin-friendly protection from the cold, from moisture and from foot injuries.
POLOLOS retain these natural qualities. Each model is a piece of handwork from Pololo's workshop in Bavaria. Only renewable vegetable materials are used for the tanning of the leather and lambskin used, such as the Valonea oak or the Tara fruit.
POLOLO is an active member of the Internationaler Verband für Naturtextilien (IVN). The company consistently follows the exacting guidelines of the IVN certificate for natural leather (“Naturleder”) that applies the strictest of requirements concerning contaminants content and manufacturing conditions, and prohibits the use of chrome-tanned leather. POLOLO only works with partners and suppliers who fulfill these obligations. Pololo shoes are compostable, and unnecessary packaging is avoided.
