I give it 2 stars for the quality of the material - it’s unparalleled. However, the design of the waistband is terrible. After one wear, I need a seamstress to address the unsecured elastic that has thread out of the band from a hole that can’t be threaded back in. It won’t hold up. The design is not typical - I’ve never seen anything alike. But in order for the waistband to be sustainable, a new design is recommended.

Bought the ruskovilla as a set for Pajamas and base layer for winter. These are thick and I do like the adjustable waist as we hope to pass these down as each kid out grows. Our son is a little on the husky side and the waist is a little snug but the elastic is slim so doesn’t bother him. We also sized up for longer wear and they are a little long but not overly big. Bought the 140 for a 70pound 52 inch tall 7yr old, 130 for a 47pound tall 5yr old.

My 3 year-old son calls these his "comfy pants" and they certainly are! I would say that the pants run small. When they arrive they are super big, but after one wash they seem to shrink two sizes (both around and length). I have never had issues with shrinkage with other Ruskovilla products (we have the adult wool leggings and adult outdoor shirt which are true to size and don't shrink). I believe these are made of a thicker material than those and may be more prone to shrinkage. For reference my just-turned 3 year-old who is on the small size has fits very snuggly into the 3-4 yr size. These are his go-to pants for winter days. He plays rough outside and we have never had any holes.

When I first got these, I wasn't a fan because I had no idea that the waistband was adjustable. Without tightening, the waist is HUGE and gaping! Luckily I looked on here again and saw everyone talking about it, so I dug around and found the elastic. I honestly have no idea how anyone figured that out, because I didn't see it written anywhere in the info for the product! The two ends of the elastic are held together by a tiny two-sided button, so one elastic attaches to one side of the button and the other elastic is on the other side. You have to feed the elastic out to the opening in the waistband, pull it out to adjust, and stuff it back in. I struggled a bit to get it done and don't really want to ever deal with adjusting it again, but it totally did the trick and they fit great now!
Our baby just turned 1 and has been wearing these for a couple months. They are pilling a little as expected, but I expect them to last a long time (hopefully for our next couple of kids!). They are soft and have a nice thickness that's not too heavy. We got size 80 and they fit perfectly over a cloth diaper with a little room to grow. The navy color is very nice! We use these as regular pants all the time.

These are just the coziest! I recommend hand washing one time before wearing because the wool becomes totally different after one wash: so so soft! My children wear them as pajamas, and they are awesome. The elastic waistband is the one negative point for me. The two ends of the elastic are not sewn together. It has multiple buttonholes and has a plastic button that you can move around to adjust the size. I e owned at least 6 pairs of these, and in each, the button always pops out and the elastic never stays fastened, so you’re left with a pair of pants that just fall down. I’ve always just sewn the two ends of the elastic together and ditched the button altogether. It’s a little work, but worth it!

Wear daily for forest school and has held up well and kept child very comfortable wearing it as a layer or alone all day. He would live in it if he could!

I love all Ruskovilla products, and these pants are no exception. These are our favorite everyday pants for fall and winter, not just because they are thick and warm, but also because they fit best under rain/snow pants, which is almost everyday must in the Pacific Northwest. I have 4 pairs in this size (had 2 per size in smaller sizes prior to potty training), and wash them in the top washer on gentle cycles often because daycare/germs/mud, then air dry for a day or so; though they also did well in the top flat gentle dryer a few times. They don't look too dressy and would not fit each occasion, but they are so comfortable and not too bad looking that work for best days.

I've used Ruskovilla long underwear before for my kids, and always loved their thickness & warmth. This time I was pleasantly surprised by extra fabric in the knees and rear of the pants, as well as an adjustable waistband (a little button you can fasten/let out on the waist). I can easily see these lasting through a growth spurt & still being in great shape to hand down to my youngest! (I bought size 100 for reference)

I have been using Ruskovilla wool for my daughter every year for 6 years now and it never disappoints. Soft as can be, so durable I lend it out to at least 3 other parents for use and always my child's first choice from the drawer. The fit is generous and comfy, and has never shrunk when I washed it with a bit too warm of water.

I agree with other reviewers here that Ruskovilla makes some of the thickest, most luxurious wool wear of any of the brands we've tried. I was very pleased to find that these long john pants have an adjustable waist elastic, so that I could adjust the size 80 pants to stay up snugly around my skinny 26lb boy (who is now 2). The other part I love about these pants are the ribbed cuffs--even more comfy and functional than a rolled hem. I do get a little felting over time, so the knit tightens up just a tad, making them even warmer, and I only hand wash, albeit perhaps sometimes in just a bit too lukewarm water.

If you can afford the few extra dollars these are the BEST of the three brands we own...Engels, Hocosa and Ruskovilla. The fabric is thicker PLUS there are double fabric knees and bums. The waist is adjustable so buying up is easy to get longer wear. IMO the bottoms run larger than tops...we pair 110 top with 100 bottom. We are using as leggings under dresses as well as lounge wear. I am now ordering this brand for the rest of the family a few pieces at a time. Other brands are nice but Ruskovilla's quality is in a class of its own. I can not recommend it but I have been able to wash this brand in my washable wool cycle of my front loader with dry rack for air dry....every washer is different and this is NOT recommended....I am just gutzy.....
